Now Your Pain Is Over (And Mine Has Just Begun)
Now your pain is over and mine has just begun
A bitter end a gifted friend, a battle never won
Once every so often there shines someone like you
A good man in a bad, mad world born with a skin too few
But lonely isn’t talented and lonely isn’t fun
Now your pain is over and mine has just begun
My picture puts you centre stage you wont be airbrushed out
Certain that you’ll never age a whisper given shout
It’s funny how an emptiness can seem to weigh a ton
Now your pain is over and mine has just begun
I should have got in touch to say I hope you’re feeling fine
But we didn’t get to talk that day I didn’t have the time
We could have made some noise with our mighty six string swords
It would’ve been alright my friend for you taught me all the chords
But ands and ifs like notes and riffs in minor keys help none
Now your pain is over and mine has just begun
So now’s the time to let you go relax and float downstream
It’s sad you’ll only ever know in this song and in my dreams
Grief is a timeless wretch as old as it is new
And now it’s sure to fetch a piece of me for you
No ordinary wind cries Mary high above the sun
Now your pain is over and mine has just begun
Dedicated to the late Steve Cooper

Big Screen
Tomorrow may not be the day
You’ll hear me say let’s fly away
But I hope it is
A better life is far behind
These narrow streets and cobbled minds
Well I hope it is
Why does this self defense seem like attack?
How many paces forward take me back again?
I’ve been looking at the big screen all my life
While you’re looking at the big screen every night
I’ve been looking at the big screen
While you’re looking at the big screen
Tomorrow night the boys go out
To large it up and lark about
Like they always do
The girls reserve the right to sup
Like men they pale then throw it up
Cos they wanted to
Many’s the time I’ve watched this play unfold
Many’s the time I’ve thought they should be told again
That I’ve been looking at the big screen all my life

Wet Weekend
Looking at the world through disappointed eyes
Driving me round the bend
Searching for some good among oppressive skies
Lost in a wet weekend
Walking through the streets just like a lonely ghost
Time on my hands to spend
Waiting for the demons that I fear the most
Lost in a wet weekend
Maybe I should stop myself from falling down
Maybe I could share with you some time
This could be the day the circus leaves the town
This could be a meeting of the minds
Feel I’m walking backwards up a one-way street
Then left me for this now
Thinking of the people I would like to meet
Don’t ask me why or how
Now I head for home where I can let it out
Now I really need a place to breathe
All roads lead to Rome so don’t regret it now
What we get is rarely what we need

Golden
It's easy to see, I'm sure you'll agree
What started out as such a simple vow
Made us into everything we are now
It's easy to hear, the words are so clear
Loud enough to echo down the years
Proud enough to let go all of our fears
You bring out the best in me for that I am beholden
Stood up to the test of time it's true
Thank you for the love we shared to me you're more than golden
I know that the best is only you
You two got it right
You two got it right

Wish Away The Moon
In the time it takes to seize
Hold of the early morning breeze, she’ll rise
A moment come and gone
Until the setting of the sun is in her eyes
Wish away the moon now she has her chance and soon she’ll fall
Waking to the the sound
Of some footsteps on the ground, she cries
And while the clock alarm
Does it’s rise and shining harm, she nearly dies
Wish away the moon take a chance and really soon she’ll fall
She just keeps her eyes on the beautiful horizon, he’ll
Kiss away her tears but there’s a price to pay and here’s the deal
Just wish away the moon, take your chance and pretty soon you’ll fall

Count On Me
If you ever change your situation think of me
If you ever fill an obligation let me see
Though I might not seem as down to earth as you may be
If you change your mind then count on me
If the day should ever come when you’re not at your best
When the friends you’re leaning on collapse like all the rest
Look in my direction if you’ve got the will to see
If you change your mind then count on me
All this time I’ve been on my own looking out for you
All this time you’ve been by the phone not knowing what to do
All this time I’ve been wandrin’ round thinking ‘bout no one else
All the while you’ve been feeling down not knowing how I felt
When you’re looking for the sun but all you see is cloud
When you want to have some fun but don’t fit in the crowd
When the party’s over and you just can’t get to sleep
When you change your mind then count on me
