John Curtis - Show Time

I have been a fan of Elvis Presley since I was 18 years old & saw film of
his Vegas comeback performances so his hits & material form an important
part of my act. Indeed I can & do dress like the great man in Vegas &
perform a tribute show. I prefer to NOT be called an impersonator as do not
try to give more than the flavour of an Elvis performance rather than a
caracture which is insulting to his talents. That apart I will (try to) sing
anything I like & can get my hands on in terms of (quality) backing tracks.
I strongly feature the hits of the 60s but throw in a lot of material from
the 50s to the present day. Rock n Roll? Yes of course! People love it & it
will never die.

Another show I can do & often perform for an "older" audience is one I call
"Frank Sinatra & friends". This features the ballards of Como Bennett Dean
Martin & singers from an earlier time & style. These shows do not rock but
they certainly swing & you find out who can REALLY dance. Whatever the style
of show (often "mixed" as a 3 hour performance develops) I try to involve
the audience as much as possible- talking between songs , cracking the odd
joke & providing info. as requested. I hate the expression "wallpaper" music
when applied to a live human being trying to entertain & I personally do my
damnest to get ANY crowd on my side , listening to me & participating well
before the end of any show I do!
